Eric Messick is our newest
fulltime staff member. Eric played his high school tennis and basketball at
Teays Valley High School in Pickaway County. Eric was the first player to reach
the elite eight in singles from Teays Valley at the Ohio High School State
Championships. Eric also qualified for the state tournament with his brother
John his senior year becoming the first doubles team to reach the State
Championships.
Eric was a top performer in his junior tennis career competing at Number One on
our Midwest Zonal team, playing on the OVTA 18 and under Junior Davis Cup team,
being ranked Nationally and in the Top 20 in the Midwest Section, and receiving
the opportunity to win matches at both the National Hard Courts and National
Clay courts.
Messick has been teaching at the Racquet club since his graduation from Dennison
in 2006. Eric taught in summer throughout college at the New Albany Country
Club where he enjoyed developing strokes and strategies for children and adults
from beginning players to National level juniors.
Eric was valedictorian for Teays Valley High School and continued to achieve
success in the Dennison Honors program where he finished with his degree in
economics. Messick was a four-year starter and received first team
all-conference honors. Eric was selected captain of the Denison team his senior
year.
Eric was married this past summer. Ashley and Eric reside in Bexley where Ashley
attends Capital Law School. Eric is excited to impart his knowledge of the game
and we are excited to have such a great fun young pro at our facility.
