OUR MISSION: The professional staff at The Racquet Club is here to provide the best possible instruction in a fun, social, safe and productive learning environment allowing each student to become the best tennis player that they wish to be.

The Racquet Club's Lesson Philosophy

Our philosophy of instruction and lessons is simple, we teach, not just feed balls.  We believe in The Game Approach to teaching tennis.  This approach is based on learning correct tennis skills through playing patterns and games that simulate real tennis matches.  We are success goal oriented ... we want each student to have fun first, as well as succeed, exercise, and increase their mental and physical skills at the fastest rate possible.

For Juniors:

Your child is the most important child in our program.  The goal of our junior program is to develop all court players who can play both singles and doubles.  We teach "the game of life" through the development of each tennis player as an individual because we care.

Our lower level classes feature dead ball feeding to develop skills with specific objectives.  We emphasize a fun first approach with the goal of teaching students how to play the game

Our intermediate and advanced junior classes are technique oriented, teaching patterns of play and specific point strategies in class sizes of up to five per court.  The goal is to develop players who can make their junior high school or high school tennis teams.  We can also help players who wish to play college tennis.

We agree with many of the top coaches in the field of sports sciences by teaching The Games Approach, which strives to develop tennis players rather than just juniors who can hit the ball hard.

For Adults:

The goal of our adult instruction program is to help you become the best player you can be.  We understand that most players play tennis for fun, exercise, and competition.  Many players are happy with their level of play.  Many players want to improve their game.  That is where we can help.

We gear our instructional program toward developing better strokes through patterns that teach sound strategy and positioning in both singles and doubles.  Our goal is to develop your entire game, serves, ground strokes, and volleys to help you develop into an all court player capable of all of the shots.  We also want to help understand the how and whys of tennis to make you a smarter, better player.

We also want to work within your level of play an experience.  Every player has a different reason for playing.  Not everyone wants to be a tournament player.  Not everyone wants to play in a highly competitive environment.  Many players just want to enjoy a leisurely game with friends.  Regardless of goals or reasons for playing, we can help you improve your game and enjoy "the game of a lifetime"

There is a common misconception that the best way to teach tennis is to simply feed as many balls to the student as possible.  Any instructor can simply feed lots of balls to the student's racquet.  Any student can simply return those balls over the net.

We disagree.  We believe in "live ball drills".  We ask students to hit each and every ball with a purpose in mind.  Where is the ball going?  Why is that the best place to hit the ball?  We don't believe in quantity for quantity's sake, we believe in quality.

At the Racquet Club, you won't find "feeders" delivering balls right the student's racquet.  That is not real life.  Think about it ... when you play tennis, does your opponent hit the ball right back to you so that you don't have to move.  Of course not.  So is that the way to teach students to be better players?

At the Racquet Club, we teach players to play tennis and to player better tennis.  We teach students to know where to hit the ball, where to be on the court, how to anticipate play, and how to think on the court.

Exercise is important, but it is not the goal of our instructional program.  If you are looking for a vigorous workout while hitting as many tennis balls as possible, we can certainly adjust our private or group lesson to meet your needs, just let us know.
